  1. Go to Mailgun.com
  2. Open a free Mailgun account. Make sure the account passed email verification and phone verification procedures. Add credit card details during registration. You won’t be charged unless you are using the free tier package allowing you to send up to 5 000 emails per month. Consider paid plan if you send more than 5 000 emails per month.
  3. Log in to the Mailgun Control Panel (if you have not already done so).
  4. Then, within the left-hand navigation pane, click the Sending option to expand its list of sub-options.
  5. Next, click the Domains sub-option.
  6. Click the Add New Domain button.
  7. Enter your Domain Name and choose your additional options.
The region in which your domain will reside: US or EU.

Create DKIM Authority - you would generally leave this checked by default.

DKIM Length - a longer DKIM key will make spoofing your emails by malicious spammers more difficult. 1024-bit is selected by default, but 2048-bit can be used as well.

Note: Some DNS providers may have an issue with 2048-bit DKIM keys, as they produce a string longer than 255 characters (exceeding the maximum character limit for a DNS entry).
  8. Once your domain name is entered and your options are set, click Add Domain to save your new domain.
  9. The next page will provide you with the DNS records required for your domain to be verified with Mailgun. This information is also available in the Domains section of the control panel by clicking on a specific domain name.
  10. Go to the DNS provider that you use to manage your domain and add the DNS records listed on a page. If you need detailed step-by-step instruction please refer to a Mailgun manual.
  11. Once you make the above DNS changes it can take 24-48 hrs for those changes to propagate. Mailgun will email you to let you know once your domain is verified.
